Shirley A. Scott

Shirley Ann Scott, 88, of Medina, Ohio, passed away peacefully on Friday, August 21, 2026.

She was the beloved wife of Robert D. Scott (deceased), with whom she shared 29 years of marriage.

Shirley is survived by her children, Robert C. Scott (Susan), Ronald Scott (Jennifer), Thomas Scott (Osiris), and Timothy Scott (Cindy); grandchildren, Kait Sager (Erik), Lee Scott (Antonia), Samantha Piland (Andrew), Lauryn Scott, Robert W. Scott, Alex Scott (Arianna), Sarah Scott, Braden Scott, Grant Scott, and Maclan Scott; and nine great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert C. and Freda I. (Graef) Horrisberger; her husband, Robert D. Scott; her grandson, Zachary Scott; and her sister, Jeanne Bolles.

Shirley was born June 16, 1938, in Dover, Ohio, to the late Robert C. and Freda Horrisberger. She and Robert (Scotty) spent many years in Salem, Ohio, where they built their life together and raised their family. Following Robert’s passing, Shirley moved to Akron and later made her home in Medina.

Shirley worked in administrative positions for Society Bank in Salem and later for Meridian Title Co. in Akron. She was a longtime volunteer with Life’s Treasures, was a member of the Salvation Army Auxiliary, and Medina Hospital, where she received the Honorary Life Award given to those with at least 10 years of service and 1,000 hours of service. She was known for her warm heart, generous spirit, and genuine care for others.

Shirley loved cooking, dining out, and spending time with family- her children, grandchildren, and special memories with the Reed family. She especially loved family vacations at the beach, where she enjoyed making memories with those closest to her. Annual trips to Sea Isle City, NJ, and Turks and Caicos were among her most cherished times, filled with sunshine, laughter, and time together. She made many friends at Western Reserve Masonic Community where she lived for the past 8 years and always had a kind word for every resident she met.

Above all, Shirley’s greatest joy was her family. She treasured every opportunity to be together and will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

Private family services will be held, and Shirley will be laid to rest beside her beloved husband, Robert, at Grandview Cemetery in Salem, Ohio.
