Shirley Marie Bedford, age 94, passed away peacefully on December 30, 2025, in Medina, Ohio.

She was born to the late George Gallagher and the late Marie and John Dunn. Shirley met and married the love of her life, Douglas Bedford, and together they moved to Medina, Ohio, where they raised their family and built a life rooted in faith, community, and love.

Shirley was a devoted member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church since 1953. She was proud to serve as the first President of the Ella Canavan Elementary School PTA, reflecting her deep commitment to education and family involvement. Shirley retired from GTE in 1988 after many years of dedicated service.

That same year, Shirley and Douglas moved to West Palm Beach, Florida, where they lived until 2006 before returning to Medina. While in Florida, Shirley enjoyed an active social life and was a member of the Swinging Palms and Suncats Square Dance clubs. She loved traveling, had a lifelong enjoyment of music and dancing, enjoyed her Tuesday lunch with family at JoJo's restaurant, and was a dedicated Cavs fan.

Shirley was preceded in death by her parents; her beloved husband of 62 years, Douglas Bedford; grandson Gary Allen; brother Jack Dunn; brother and sister-in-law George and Ruth Gallagher; son-in-law Stephan Testa; and sister-in-law Sue Dunn.

She leaves behind to cherish her memory, her children: Shirley Testa, Barbara Allen (Greg Lipina), and Beverly (Robert) Byer; her grandchildren Stephan (Raquel) Testa, Shawn (Stephanie) Testa, Andrea Allen, Mandy (Jim) Hines, Jonathan (Jessica) Allen, Kristin Byer, Nicholas (Kim) Byer, and Mandy (Eric) Hooper; seventeen great-grandchildren with one on the way; and one great-great-grandchild.

Family would like to express their appreciation to the dedicated staff of Brookdale Medina South and Hospice of Medina for their kindness and caring of Shirley.  Memorial donations may be made in Shirley's name to Hospice of Medina at www.hospicewr.org.

Family will receive friends on Thursday, January 15, 2026, from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Waite Funeral Home, 765 N. Court Street, Medina, Ohio. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, January 16, 2026, St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, 606 E. Washington Street, Medina, Ohio.  Shirley will be laid to rest beside her beloved husband in Spring Grove Cemetery, Medina, OH.
