Stephen rode his last roller coaster on October 16th, 2026. He was born on May 27th, 1981. He graduated from Cloverleaf High School with straight A’s and obtained a bachelor’s degree at Kent State University. He worked as a Senior Manager in Data Analytics in the banking industry.
His passion was amusement parks, that was his first love. Growing up with the old amusement park in Chippewa Lake, he was always young at heart. Steve took many trips to Chippewa Lake Park after it closed and had quite the memorabilia from visiting it.
Steve visited amusement parks whenever he could, from Sandusky to Pennsylvania. He was also very knowledgeable on all closed parks in NE Ohio.
He loved Schwinn bicycles, classic cars and movies, Lionel and American Flyer trains, and listening to the golden oldies. He also loved the 1950’s and collecting music and memorabilia from that era. He was very knowledgeable and a historian of the 1950’s and long abandoned amusement parks.
Steve had impeccable style and taste with his perfect coordination of his attire – “always dressed to the nines”, down to the modern 1950’s vintage décor of his home.
He was kind, intelligent, funny and quick-witted with a magnetic personality and had many friends. He was family oriented, very nostalgic with an excellent memory. A go-to if you wanted to know anyone’s birthday or a significant date in the family’s history. Always reminding you of memories from the past to bring joy., He was a true gentleman with a childlike spirit and could always bring a smile to anyone’s face.
He was extremely generous and loved giving thoughtful gifts every birthday and Christmas to his loved ones.
He will be cherished, celebrated and deeply missed by his family and friends!
He is survived by his parents Gary & Christine, brother Justin Harris and spouse Amy, and twin sister Jill (spouse Vincent) Woodmancy, nephew Joseph Harris and spouse Faith, nieces Emma Harris, Alizabeth (spouse Parker) Gregoire and countless dear cousins.
He is preceded in death by his brother Michael Harris, grandfather and grandmother Carl and Virginia (Ginny) Harris, grandfather and grandmother Steve and Annie Vekas, and his Aunt Deedee Duecker.
At Steve’s request, there will be no calling hours. A celebration of life will be announced at a later date. Online condolences and memories may be shared at www.waitefuneralhome.com.
