Steven R. Shafer, 80, of Medina, formerly of Cincinnati, passed away on Friday, December 5, 2025. Steve was born on October 12, 1945, in Cincinnati, Ohio, the son of the late Stanley and Ruth (English) Shafer.

Steve graduated from Colerain High School, where he excelled in track and field. Following his graduation from high school, Steve joined the United States Navy and served our county during the Vietnam War. He was an excellent salesman and worked for Mohawk Mills. He was a very happy and cheerful person and seldom found fault in others. Steve loved hunting and fishing. He also practiced Taekwondo.

Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Janice Shafer and brother, Stanley R. Shafer.

He is survived by his son, Cory Shafer; stepson, Tony Barelli; one granddaughter; sister, Robyn (Mel) Yull; sister-in-law, Mary Shafer; and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends at Waite Funeral Home: 765 North Court Street, Medina, OH 44256 on Monday, January 12, 2026 from 11:30 am - 12:30 pm, with a memorial service at 12:30 pm.
