Teresa Rose Brafchak-Oberaitis, age 97, passed away on October 15, 2024, in Akron, Ohio. She was born on October 28, 1926, in Daviess County, Kentucky to the late Joseph D. and Mary (Carrico) Coomes.

Teresa was a founding member of Holy Martyrs Catholic Church and had a deep faith which she imparted to her children as she raised them. Teresa enjoyed cooking and was an accomplished home cook, food was love in her house and no one ever left hungry. She enjoyed quilting, bingo, and playing cards, (especially pinocle). Above all she loved being in the company of her family. A loving mother, grandmother and friend she will be greatly missed.

She is survived by her children, Anna Brafchak and Joseph (Margaret) Brafchak; her beloved grandchildren, TJ (Hawa) Douglas and Christine Douglas; her great granddaughter, Sunday Douglas along with a lifetime of friends.

Teresa is preceded in death by her first husband and father of her children, Franklin Brafchak; her daughter, Teresa Rose Brafchak; second husband, Richard Oberaitis; and her parents.

The family will receive friends on October 18, 2024, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Waite Funeral Home, 765 N Court Street, Medina, Ohio 44256. A funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Saturday, October 19, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. with her interment at St. Francis Catholic Cemetery of Medina, Ohio immediately following the service.
