Velma L. Jones, 78, of Medina, passed away following an illness of stroke complications on Wednesday, March 25, 2020, at the Justin T. Rogers Hospice Care Center. She was born on June 14, 1941, in Cleveland, to the late James Gay and Beatrice Taylor (Stanley).

Velma spent her working life in retail at the May Company and Walmart. She enjoyed watching MSNBC and Perry Mason, and would occasionally attend concerts.

She is survived by her husband, Gerald Jones; children, Robert (Jennifer) Johnson, of Clarksville, TN, Mathew Johnson, of Cleveland, and Kamell Jones, of Medina; grandchildren, Rosalynn, Eldridge Jr., Dominique, Corvette, Alexis, Peculiar, Skylar, and Brittany; great grandchildren, Jada, Jordin, Seven, Aaron Jr., Jermaine, Chanel, Brooklyn, Azula, Zane and Jett.

She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Eldridge Johnson, and step-father, Ralph Taylor.

Due to the current conditions, the family will have a private family gathering. A memorial service in honor of Velma will be held at a later date, details to follow.
