Vernon R. “Butch” Vanderpool, age 62 of Brunswick passed away on August 14, 2026, following a courageous battle with multiple serious health complications. He was a loving husband, father, brother, uncle, friend, and a truly kind-hearted man who will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Butch was a hard worker, a talented machine builder, maintenance mechanic and a gifted electrician. Throughout his career, he worked as a cable lineman, maintenance mechanic/technician, electromechanical machine builder, electrical production supervisor and his preferred profession as an electrical production technician. He was always able to build, repair, or figure out just about anything and took great pride in his work.
Butch was known for his humor, his generosity, and his willingness to help anyone in need. He could talk to anybody about anything and loved making people laugh, especially his nieces and nephews. He never took anyone for granted and was a man of his word. He often reminded those he loved, “Don’t mistake my kindness for weakness.”
His greatest joy was his family. He went above and beyond to care for his wife, Kimberly, and their son, Alex. He and Kim shared many special memories, including spending entire days together cooking and taking on household and outdoor projects. Butch and his brother Todd also spent years working together on projects around his home, including a bathroom renovation, replacing roof soffits, and building an addition to his deck for Kim’s smoker.
Butch will be remembered for his kind heart, strong work ethic, humor, selflessness, and the countless ways he helped family, friends, and neighbors. The memories he created and the love he gave will remain with his family forever.
Survived by: his loving wife, Kimberly A. Vanderpool (Duskey); son, Alex Vanderpool; mother-in-law, Sharon Duskey; sister, Ellen J. McGarvey; brother, Todd V. (Shawn R.) Vanderpool; and many beloved nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by his father, Vernon R. Vanderpool Sr.; mother, Jane E. Vanderpool; and father-in-law, James Duskey.
He was loved deeply, will be missed beyond words, and will never be forgotten.
The family will receive friends at Waite Funeral Home: 3300 Center Road, Brunswick, OH 44212, on Friday, August 21, 2026, from 4 to 7 pm. Messages of comfort and support may be sent to Butch’s family at www.waitefuneralhome.com.
