Veronika Tamba (Czirjak), 93, lovingly known as “Mama,” passed away peacefully on June 12, 2026, at the age of 93 (and a half), surrounded by family and friends.
Born January 27, 1933, in Napkor, Hungary, Veronika immigrated to the United States in 1958 and built a life centered on family, hard work, and community.
Veronika had a remarkable gift for caring for others and creating community. She lovingly cared for her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren and was happiest when surrounded by family and friends. She rarely missed an opportunity to cook for someone she loved.
Known for her strength, determination, and independent spirit, Veronika was proud to still be stacking firewood well into her nineties, a fact she enjoyed sharing with anyone who would listen. She was stubborn, sweet, hardworking, and fiercely devoted to those she loved.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John Tamba; her sons, John, William, and Mike Tamba; her son in law, Jim Wilson, her parents; and her brothers. She is survived by her daughter, Liz Wilson; daughter-in-law, Mary Tamba; grandchildren Veronica Tamba, Glynnis Hughes (Jeremy), John Tamba (Jessica), David Munyan (Melanie), Kristen Paras, Nicholas Wilson (Vanessa), Michael Tamba (Alexis), Shawn Tamba; 16 great-grandchildren; and niece Aniko Berry.
Family will receive friends on Thursday, June 18th from 11:00 am-1:00 pm at the Waite Funeral Home 765 N Court St., Medina, OH., with the Funeral Service immediately following at 1:00 pm. Interment Spring Grove Cemetery.
