Victoria Lynn
King Cortes
July 6, 1969 – February 8, 2024
Victoria Lynn King Cortes, lovingly known as Vicky, passed away in hospice care on February 8, 2024. After a valiant, multi-year battle with cancer, she lived her final days cared for by her family, friends, and exceptional hospice care nurses, doctor, and support team. Born in Lakewood, Ohio on July 6, 1969 to Karen and Bill King, she had a smile that lit up her face, a laugh that was infectious, and a heart that she wore on her sleeve. She readily shared her love with every person and dog she met. She was genuine, humble, and kind. To know Vicky, was to love Vicky.
Vicky grew up in Brunswick, Ohio and graduated from Brunswick High School. She spent her adult life in Lakewood, Ohio. She was caring and compassionate with a special love of dogs, horses, and Harley Davidson. Diagnosed with breast cancer in 2019, Vicky was sometimes tired, but never stopped fighting. She was a proud survivor for five years. She often said "cancer sucks" but she was determined to win. Throughout her battle, she knew she was supported and loved dearly by her family and many truly amazing friends.
Vicky will be dearly missed by her parents, sister and brother-in-law, Shelley and Kevin Kluska of Maryland; her brother and sister-in-law, Steve and Ruth of California; her nephews and nieces, Nicholas, Joshua, and Sophia Kluska, Max and Serafina King; best friend Gina Markos, Gina's family, and Linkin. She is preceded in death by her grandparents and her two canine kids, Chassie and Harlie.
Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m., Saturday, February 24, 2024, at Waite & Son Funeral Home, 3300 Center Rd., Brunswick, followed by a Celebration of Life at 1 p.m. Interment will take place at Eastlawn Memory Gardens, Brunswick.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that donations be made to the hospice that provided Vicky with extraordinary, loving care:
