May 14, 1943 – March 20, 2026
Wells Hammers, age 82, passed away on March 20, 2026, in Medina, Ohio. He was born in Youngstown, OH to Edgar and Melissa (nee Davis) Hammers.
Wells grew up in Monongahela, Pennsylvania and was a die-hard Pittsburgh Steelers fan. After marrying the love of his life, Cheryl Zadrozny, they moved to Medina. Wells was devoted to his family and embraced a life filled with warmth, tradition, and joyful experiences.
Wells served in the U.S. Army. After more than 30 years of service he retired as a Plant Manufacturing Engineer at Continental Plastic Containers. Over the years, he enjoyed traveling to new places, staying active, and taking day trips to Amish Country.
Wells treasured time with his grandchildren, Justin and Sarah, and created many special memories with them. Wells and Cheryl often took them on day trips, with a favorite adventure being ferrying to Put-in-Bay to explore the island.
He was preceded in death by Cheryl, his wife of 56 years; his parents, his sisters Mary Lou Palmer, Leah Rogenski, and Isabella Lynn; his brothers Harry, David, and Paul "Tacky" Hammers.
Wells is survived by his daughter, Lanette (Gary) Hinkle; his cherished grandchildren, Justin and Sarah; his brother Homer (Lois) Hammers; and many nieces and nephews.
Family will receive friends on Wednesday, March 25, 2026, from 10:00 am – 11:00 am at Waite Funeral Home 765 N. Court St., Medina, OH 44256. Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 12:00 pm at St. Francis Catholic Church 606 E. Washington St., Medina OH 44256. He will be laid to rest in St. Francis Xavier Cemetery.
