Obituary

William A. Bland, Sr., 75, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family Friday, October 25, 2024. Bill proudly served as a United States Marine and was a Vietnam Veteran. He worked at UPS for 32 years as a semi-truck driver. He was a life member of the 569 Marine Corps League. He was a member of the Fleet Reserve Branch Association #163 and a member of VFW Post 9520 where he actively served as Honor Guard for his fellow veterans at the Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery in Seville as well as many community events, Toys-for-Tots, and high school football games. He took pride in these opportunities, and he enjoyed talking to and befriending everyone and when we say everyone - we mean everyone!

He was an avid Cleveland sports fan and watched the Browns, Cavs and Indians as well as Ohio State, NASCAR and golf tournaments. Despite his love for Cleveland sports, nothing brought him more joy than the love for his wife, Patty, as well as his dedication to his children, grandchildren and great-grandsons.

He is survived by his wife, Patricia, of 51 years; daughter, Tricia (fiancé Joseph Perrotti) and grandchildren Kaitlyn, Courtney and James. He was Great Pop-Pop to Jase and Bryson Teed. He is also survived by siblings Joseph, Jr. "Butch" (Geneva); Carlene Baldosser; mother-in-law, Rose Hackett and brother-in-law Chuck Hund (Debra) as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.

Bill was preceded in death by his beloved son, William A. Bland, Jr.; dear granddaughter, Sierra Bland; parents, Joseph and Ruth; father-in-law, Jeffery Hackett, and siblings Dave, Dennis "Slim", Terry and John, and brother-in-law, Michael Hund.

Visitation 1 p.m. to 5 p.m., Sunday, November 3, 2024, at Waite & Son Funeral Home, 3300 Center Road, Brunswick. He will be laid to rest with his fellow veterans with Military Honors at the Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery, Seville, Monday, November 4, 2024. Meet at the funeral home at 10:30 a.m.
