Obituary

William (Bill) Kenneth Fiala passed away suddenly on March 3, 2025, at the age of 75.

Bill was born on August 24, 1949, to Louis and Pauline Fiala in Cleveland, Ohio. He moved to Chatham, Ohio as a young child and resided there until his death. Bill was a perpetual optimist, a man of faith, strength, and resilience who had the unique ability to make friends everywhere and anywhere. He was an active member of Our Lady Help of Christians Parish where he served as a Lector, Eucharistic Minister, and in several other roles. After 29 loyal years, he retired from Verizon Communications in 2003. He continued to work in the telecommunications industry, most recently spending nearly a decade with Uniti Fiber. He enjoyed golfing, fishing, hunting, the beautiful shores of Ocracoke Island, and most of all, being "Papa" to his seven beloved grandchildren.

Bill was a loving husband, father, and grandfather whose generosity and kindheartedness were limitless.  He was well known for his infectious laugh, his caring spirit, and his immense love of Bud Light and the Ohio Lottery.  A US Army veteran, Bill lived life to the fullest with a quiet confidence and boundless zest for life that welcomed and comforted those he knew well and those lucky to cross his path.

While he is no longer with us here on earth, his spirit will continue to guide and inspire those who knew him.

Bill is survived by Denise (Sue) Fiala (nee Voshall), his loving and devoted wife of 51 years.  He is also survived by his children Brent (Alison) Fiala and Eric (Kate) Fiala and his grandchildren Cayden, Logan, Briella, Eleanor, William, Anna, and Jacob Fiala.  Bill was one of 11 children and is survived by his brothers and sisters Marilyn (William) Bonnett, John (Barb) Fiala, Robert (Debbie) Fiala, Thomas (Debbie) Fiala, Michele (Richard) Hamey, Paulette (Jerry) Houston, and Barbara (Eric) Masters.  He will also be missed by his many nieces and nephews - who particularly enjoyed his dancing at their weddings and his antics at the family's annual golf outing.

Preceded in death by his parents Louis and Pauline Fiala and brothers Louis Fiala, Terry Fiala, and Leroy Fiala.
