Obituary

Rev. William Lester Mc Mahan, 11/16/1938 - 1/4/2025

From the parable found in Matthew 25:23 "...Well done, good and faithful servant! Thou hast been faithful over a few things; I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord."

Rev. Lester Mc Mahan, husband, dad, grandfather and GG; a good and faithful servant, entered into the joy of his Lord on January 4, 2025, at the age of 86.

Preceded in death by his wife of 63 years Geraldine (Murr) and three children, twins Shelia and Sherrie Ann, and Carl Lester. His parents Russell and Zelma of Del Rio, Tennessee, brothers Jack, Clayton and Chester, sisters Bashie and Pauline. Survived by brothers Graydon, Roy and Creed, sisters Lessie Mae and Geneva, children Dale and June (Mitchell), Leslie and Angella (Walters), grandchildren Adam and Lindsey (Darnall), Brian and Meggie (Lanum), Cory and Karli (Ziegler), Bethany and Tim Kenyon, Emily and Kale Bandy and 9 great grandchildren.

He leaves behind a legacy of service to others. Loved by many, pastor to all. His pastoral ministry service included Oak Grove Free Will Baptist Church (TN), Friendship Free Will Baptist Church (AL), Unity Free Will Baptist Church (OH) and Faith Free Will Baptist Church (OH).

His humble beginnings provided a base for his care and compassion for those he ministered to. His words to new ministers would always be "love the people and preach the word".

Paul's words to Timothy are fitting from 2 Timothy 4:7 at this time: "I have fought the good fight, I have finished my course. I have kept the faith:"

Family will receive friends on Wednesday, January 8, 2025, from 4-7pm at Unity Free Will Baptist Church, 6658 Fry Rd, Middleburg Heights, OH 44130 and 10-11am  on Thursday at the church.  A funeral service for William will follow at 11:00am.  The Rev. Eugene Crouch will officiate.  Interment will follow at West Park Cemetery in Cleveland.

In lieu of flowers donations in his name are encouraged to The Salvation Army of Cleveland or Unity Free Will Baptist Church.
