William L. Tuchek D.D.S.
Dr. William Tuchek, 89, of Medina, passed away peacefully on February 13, 2025 following a short illness. He was surrounded and embraced by his immediate family. Bill was born October 27, 1935 to William Tuchek and Katherine (Czubinsky) Tuchek. Bill was preceded in death by his parents and his loving wife of over fifty years, Joan C. Tuchek. He is survived by his sister Barbara (Paul-dec'd) Gulley; son's Jeffrey (Carol) Tuchek, Scott (Kimberly) Tuchek and Robert (Tiffany) Tuchek; grandchildren, Emily (Russ) Slough, Haley (Daniel) Goulet, Todd Tuchek, Shelby (Eric) De Witt and Michael Tuchek; and great-grandchildren Livi, Asher and Andi Goulet. He was a devoted and caring family man and would best be remembered as an active, energetic and tireless worker.
Dr. Tuchek was raised in Parma, Ohio. He graduated from Parma High School in 1954, and decades later, was inducted into the school's Hall of Fame. Upon graduation, he attended Miami University and was a member of the Delta Upsilon Fraternity. In 1960, Bill graduated with honors from Case Western Reserve University with a degree in Dental Surgery. While in school he received special recognition in the field of children's dentistry. Later that year, he opened a solo general dental practice in Brook Park. In 1999, and after 39 years of practice, he retired. He was and retained membership in the Cleveland Dental Society, Ohio Dental Association and the American Dental Association. While working and raising a family, Dr. Tuchek proudly served as a dental officer in the United Sates Naval Reserve. During his 22 years of service, he attained the rank of Commander and the duty of Executive Officer.
Bill served on The Rustic Hills and later, The Fox Meadow Property Owners Associations. He also served as a member of The Montville Township Board of Appeals. He was very proud to preside over the Muscular Dystrophy Association of Medina County for a number of years. As a member of St. Francis Xavier Church, he was involved with the RCIA Program and The St. Vincent DePaul Society.
Dr. Tuchek had a passion for sports especially within the Medina community. In 1970, he joined the Medina Athletic Boosters Club. His membership spanned over 55 years. During this time, he served as president for 7 year's and was awarded an Honorary Varsity "M". He served as the campaign chairman for the bond levy which funded the building of the current Medina Athletic Stadium. In 1981, he initiated the "Medina Athletic Booster, Ken Dukes Scholarship" which he had chaired since 1981. From 1981-2012, he could be seen in the football press box at Ken Dukes Stadium handling the spotting chores with his son Jeff. As appreciation for his dedication and service, The Medina City Schools inducted him into it's Hall of Fame in 2014 for Special Honorary Achievement; an honor he was tremendously proud to receive. He truly enjoyed his family retreat in Canada and wintering in Arizona. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, skiing and travel. Golf however became his second career following retirement. As a family, we'd be remiss if we did not make mention of his making a "hole-in-one", "shooting his age" at age 76 and twice winning the Super Senior Golf Championship at Fox Meadow CC.
We've learned from Bill what is spoken in Hebrews 13:16 "And don't forget to do good and to share with those in need. These are the sacrifices that please God".
