Austin E. Cox, age 91, passed away Monday, November 23, 2015 in Medina. Austin was born March 10, 1924 to the late Clarence and Genevieve (Pollack) Cox. He was an industrial designer, working for himself and retiring from Magnif -he was always designing and building something. Austin enjoyed fishing; was proud of 63 years of Root Beer Concessions, and he would watch any Cleveland sporting event on TV.
He served his country proudly in the U.S. Marine Corps, WWII. During his time in the military, he also taught the arts in Seoul, South Korea.
Austin was the beloved father of Jerrol Cox, Jon (Jimmy Sholtis) Cox, Jeff(Linda) Cox, Jason (Jan Silvey) Cox and Joy (Terry Alspach) Cox; and loving grandfather of Samantha, Nichole, Hayden, Austin, Miranda and Steven.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Jean Marilyn Cox in 2008; and his brothers Doyte and Luther Cox.
Services will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Saturday, November 28, at the Waite & Son Funeral Home, 765 N. Court St., Medina. Rev. Dr. David Tennant will officiate. Family will receive friends Saturday from 11:00 AM until time of service at the funeral home. Burial with military honors, and alongside his wife, will take place at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery at a later date.
