Dorothy Marie Shaw passed away September 11, 2009. She was born November 25th, 1933, in Cleveland. In 1955 she married Paul Shaw, and soon resided on a small farm in Litchfield. Together they raised seven children.
Dorothy was a seamstress for many years; you may remember her as the "slipcover lady." She enjoyed bowling in Parma with many of her sisters, and later, joined the Wednesday afternoon ladies league at Medina Lanes. She loved to golf. She was very active with her church, Our Lady Help of Christians. She was an avid novel reader. Dorothy loved to talk about, and spend time with her family. She enjoyed being a mom and a grandmother. Dorothy was a 4H advisor and started the Litchfield Friendly Workers 4H Club and volunteered for many years with the Medina Co. Board of Elections. She was proud to say that she had six sisters and eight brothers.
In 1997 she was diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease and it has been a long goodbye. Her husband cared for her until his death in 2003. Her family would like to thank the caregiver's at Elmcroft of Medina for the care and love that they showed her for five years. Also to the Medina Village Retirement Center, where she moved to, for full nursing care, and finally to Medina County Hospice.
Mrs. Shaw is survived by her daughters, Sam (Anthony) Vrona of Grafton and Lois (Reed) Hollopeter of Lafayette. Her sons, Paul Shaw Jr. of Cashiers, NC, Christopher (Julia) Shaw, Charles (Carolyn) Shaw, and Adam (Cricket) Shaw all of Litchfield. Grandchildren, Nikki Vrona, Jessi (Mike) Elbert, Ashlei (William) Clay; Alex Vrona, Atheena Vrona and Alana Vrona; Justin, Garrison, Ethan, and Brennan Shaw; Vicky, Matt, Amelia, and Rachael Shaw; Emry and Landon Hollopeter and Faith Shaw. Great-granchildren, Zoey and Riley Vrona and Joshua Clay.
Also surviving are her sisters, Rita (Bob), Shirley (Dan), Dolores (Al-dec), Ginny (Rich-dec), Whitey (Bernie-dec.), Rosie (Bill); and her brothers Michael (Tish), Jimmy, Danny (Marlene), John (Mary), Billy (Anita), Bobby (Carole), Freddy (Diane) and Gregory.
She was preceded in death by her beloved mother, Marie; father, Michael; stepfather Maurice her husband, Paul; and her son, Matthew.
