Jack Edward Chester, 80, of Medina was welcomed home to heaven on Monday, November 1, 2010. Jack was born February 11, 1930 in Cleveland and lived in Medina most of his life. He graduated from Medina High School in 1948 and served 12 years in the National Guard. After high school Jack was a machinist for Medina Auto Parts and partnered with his brother Ray in an adjust-a-post business and landscaping. In the 1960s, Jack got his real estate license and partnered with Wayne Crum to form Crum and Chester with the business headquartered in the old Waite Funeral home just North of Medina's square on North Court. In the 1970s, the partners went their own ways and Jack started Jack Chester Realty where he sold real estate around Medina County for 30 years. He also managed properties on behalf of the Veteran's Administration in Medina and Wayne Counties for over 20 years for the Veteran's Administration.
In the 1980s, Jack served as a Lafayette Township Trustee for 12 years. He was an active member of the Lafayette community where he volunteered his time, helped raise money for township kids, and was a friend to many. He was a life-long member of the Medina Eagles and Moose. In his later years, Jack faithfully attended First Baptist Church in Medina.
Jack had many hobbies and interests. He bowled at the Medina Lanes for over 50 years, played softball in the summer, avidly rode dirt and road bikes, enjoyed cutting wood, and in later years built bird houses for fund-raisers, friends, and family.
