Carl William Westlake beloved husband, grandfather, great- grand father and brother died July 1 2024 in Avon Lake OH.
Carl was born May 7 1945 in Parma OH. He is the son of Richard and Ruth Westlake. He Married Ruby Fay Brady on March 6 1970.
He grew up in Valley City and surrounding area. He was a graduate of Buckeye High School. Carl proudly served in the United States Army from 1964 to 1972. He served in the Army National Guard in Wyo. and Ohio. He worked at PPG in Cleveland Ohio. He then moved to Cardington OH where he retired from the United States Postal Service.
l had an exceptional work ethic and often sacrificed time with his family so they would never be without. He would often help those in need whenever could. He served as the assistant Scout Master for the Boy Scouts for many years. He was a bit of a comedian, making up nick names for his grand kids and great grand kids. As well as making up jingles about anything and everything.(Oh Dear ,bread and beer if I hadn't gotten married I wounldn't be here. ) He also often enjoyed singing old songs and hymns.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years Ruby Westlake. He is also survived by two sons, Kenneth Richardson and Lyle Westlake, two daughters Carol Maxwell-Lara and Michelle Gibbs .15 Grand children, and 28 Great grand children. He is also survived by one brother, Arthur D. Westlake and two sisters, Helen Bena, and Judy Chabek. He is proceeded in death by is father and mother and 1 brother, Richard W. Westlake.
Visitation will be Tuesday, July 9, 2024, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Waite & Son Funeral Home, 3300 Center Rd., Brunswick, OH 44212, with burial following at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery in Seville, Ohio.
