Obituary

Virginia Jeandrevin, 86, died peacefully at her home on the 13 th of February 2023 surrounded by family. Virginia was born on February 9, 1937, to John D. and Bertha Farmer in Mullens, West Virginia. She graduated from Mullens High School and then attended West Virginia University where she earned a Bachelor of Science in Health and Physical Education. Upon graduation she took a teaching position at Medina High School in 1959. She quickly became a favorite of her students.

Virginia met her future husband at a church party and married John T. Jeandrevin on August 12, 1961. Devoted to each other, they were married for 61 years. Always together Virginia and John shared a love for reading, travel, skiing, hiking, bicycling, tennis, and golf. Virginia firmly believed in service to her community and was a teacher, board member, and activist. Her experience in the classroom helped her as a school board member. Virginia was elected and served on the Medina City School Board for 24 years and served the Medina County Career Center for fourteen years. Upon her school board retirement, she was elected to Medina City Council and served her constituency for eight years. Because of her love of nature and Medina, Virginia was a long-time member of the Shade Tree Commission, the Cemetery Commission, Friends of the Medina County Parks, the American Association of University Women, the League of Women Voters, the YWCA and many other local non-profit organizations. Virginia wanted to make the Medina community a better place to live for everyone.
