David Reed Cathcart, Sr., 62, of Mansfield, passed away Saturday, October 22, 2022 at OhioHealth Mansfield. Born November 25, 1959 in Dubois, Pennsylvania, he was the son of Robert O'Dell and Antoinette Elizabeth (Montalbano) Cathcart.
David was a 1977 graduate of DuBois Central Catholic. Following high school, David served in the United States Marine Corp of which he was very proud to serve his country. He lived most of his life in Reynoldsville, Pennsylvania. He was an active member of St. Peter's Parish and also a 3rd degree Knight in the Knights of Columbus Council 687. He was also active at his previous parish, St. Peter in Millersburg.
A gentle soul, David was a very generous person and always willing to help anyone in need. He loved playing Texas Hold-Em and was a very good poker player, playing in numerous tournaments. David was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers and Penn State fan.
He is survived by his sons, David Cathcart, Jr. and Derrick Cathcart; his siblings, Dan (Patty) Cathcart, Lois Cathcart and Tony (Kim) Cathcart; and his nieces and nephews, Sean, Devin, Kyle, Caitlyn, Abby and T.C.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Molly (Barton) Cathcart.
Friends may call from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. on Friday, October 28, 2022 at the Waite & Son Funeral Home, 765 N. Court Street, Medina, Ohio 44256. A Mass of Christian Burial will be recited by Father Tony Sejba at 12:00 p.m. Saturday, October 29, 2022 at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, 606 E. Washington Street, Medina, Ohio 44256.
A committal service with military honors will be held at Beulah Cemetery in Reynoldsville, Pennsylvania at a later date.
