"Dave" Vance
June 14, 1940 – November 18, 2023
Franklin David "Dave" Vance, age 83, passed away on November 18, 2023 surrounded by his family. He was born in Richland Township, Ohio on June 14, 1940 to the late Kyle McClellan and Helen Irene (nee Hummer) Vance. Dave served his country in the U.S. Army at Fort Sill Oklahoma as Field Artillery Lieutenant and graduated from The Ohio State University. He was an accountant for multiple trucking companies, as well as other industries both here and in Saudi Arabia.
He was an avid fan of his alma mater, OSU, and was also a fan of the Cleveland sports teams. He was a devout member of Holy Martyrs Catholic Church, enjoyed the arts and theater, and was passionate about current world events and politics. Dave, along with his wife Jan, traveled the world including trips to Africa, Morocco and South America.
Dave is survived by his beloved wife of 32 years, Janice (nee Ochendowski) Vance; his children Monique (Ben) Yohanan and Dionne Vance; step children Patrick O'Flanagan, Meghan Harris and Kelly O'Boyle; grandchildren Jake Yohanan, Trenton and Vincent Ferrel, Logan O'Flanagan, and Shane and Molly O'Boyle; brothers Bob, Fred (Bonnie), Joe (Kathy), George (Lorene), Nick (Mitzie) Vance and his sister Lucy (Alphonse) Ruffner; numerous half brothers and sisters; and a lifetime of collected friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brothers Thomas and Timothy Vance.
The family will receive family and friends at Waite & Son Funeral Home, 765 N. Court St., Medina 44256 on Saturday November 25th, 2023, from 2-4:00 pm. with a service at 4:00 pm.
A Celebration of Dave's Life will be held immediately following the service at 4. We encourage Scarlet and Gray attire and/or fanfare during this Celebration of Life.
A burial will be held at All Saints Cemetery in Northfield in the future.
