Frederick "Freddie"
Riffner
June 11, 1938 – January 20, 2023
Frederick (Freddie) Riffner, age 84, of Medina, Ohio, passed away on Friday, January 20, 2023. He was born on June 11, 1938, to the late Eleanor and Frank Riffner.
He worked at the Medina County Board of Developmental Disabilities in the workshop for many years. He also worked for Windfall Industries. He loved work and earning money.
Freddie had lots of friends and was well known in the community. He resided at Ann Tubbs Estates in Medina for 18 years. He was fortunate to have devoted staff working with him and caring for him from the County Board of DD, Windfall Industries and Peace Foundation. He loved Elvis and collected Elvis books and albums. Fred was embraced by the Medina Community. Community members always were helping him out. Giving him rides, baking him cookies and many other kind gestures.
His biggest passion was for the Medina County Fair. He was always busy passing out flyers and signs for the fair. He worked tirelessly for years prior to the week of the fair sweeping and getting numbers painted for the vendor spots. During the week of the fair, he spent every minute sweeping, helping vendors and the Sheriff's Department. Fair members dedicated a picnic table with a plaque in Freddie's name. They made sure he had "official" fair clothing. Many thanks to all the board members, employees and venders that embraced Fred and looked out for him so he could be part of his most important week of the year.
The last two years Freddie resided at the Western Reserve Masonic Community, Medina where he was welcomed with open arms. He made many friends and truly loved living there. Many thanks go out to them for caring for him.
Linda Bohner had the pleasure of serving as Fred's legal guardian for over the past 20 years. He was a joy to be around and livened up any gathering, so there was never a dull moment when it came to Fred. Linda and Bruce and their family enjoyed his company at lots of gatherings and holidays.
Freddie is survived by his sister, Eleanor (Riffner) Beck; his brother-in-law, Bob Beck; his niece, Christine Rupert; and his nephews, David Jolliff and Jeff Beck, along with a lifetime of collected friends.
The Medina Community is invited to attend a Celebration of Life for Freddie on Wednesday, February 8, 2023, from 4 to 6 p.m with a service at 5:30 p.m at the Western Reserve Masonic Community Center, 4931 Nettleton Road, Medina, Ohio
