Gerald (Jerry) Melter, age 99, passed away on Tuesday, July 9, 2024. Gerald was preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, Hilda (née Walter). He was the loving father of Thomas (Claire List) and Martha; grandfather of Jade (Brandon Williams), Zachary (Deanna), Marc, Eric and Philippe Maniez; great-grandfather of Grayson and Liv Williams and Luka Melter. He was the son of the late Carl and Marguerite Melter (née Coy).

Gerald graduated from Glenville High School and Case-Western Reserve University.   A World War II veteran, he served in the Army in New Guinea, the Philippines and Yokohama, Japan. He was a Senior V.P. of Commercial Services at the Cleveland Trust Co., (Ameritrust -Key Bank).

Gerald was an Eagle Scout, the highest rank attainable in the Boy Scouts of America program. He was an accomplished violinist and sang in choirs all his 1ife, notably as a 50-year member of the Barbershop Harmony Society. He was an avid genealogist and was successful in tracing the history of his German and Scotch-Irish ancestors from the l 700's to the present.

A private ceremony and interment will be held in the presence of close family.
