Obituary

John Taylor Jeandrevin, age 90, passed away on Friday, May 12, 2023, surrounded by his loving family. John was born on May 23, 1932, to George Walter and Margaret (Taylor) Jeandrevin in Wooster, Ohio. In 1950, John graduated from Strasburg High School, where he played varsity sports. He then attended The College of Wooster, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science in 1954. Upon graduation, he enlisted in the U.S. Army and served from 1954 to 1956. After he left the Army, he attended the University of Michigan Law School, receiving his Juris Doctor in 1959. He started his legal career in Medina, practicing law for 59 years until his retirement in 2018 at 86 years old.

John met the love of his life, Virginia Farmer at a church social function. They married on August 12, 1961, in Mullens, West Virginia. Always together, they were married for 61 years until Virginia's recent passing on February 13, 2023. They shared a love for tennis and cycling. John was a passionate world traveler and enjoyed all of his family's many vacations. He was also an avid golfer and was an accomplished skier.

Committed to serving the Medina community, John was a long-time member of Rotary International, Medina County Historical Society and served on the Medina County District Library Board of Trustees. His two most cherished contributions were serving on the board of Advisors for the Medina Salvation Army and his work for the Medina County Park District. He thought that the work of the Salvation Army was critical to a healthy Medina. John's dedication to preserving nature and helping to make Medina County a better place to live for everyone led to his long service for the Medina County Parks District. In 1972, he and others helped start the park district. He served as legal counsel for the Park District for 46 years, guiding the district from an idea on paper to the system of parks, preserves, trails, and facilities we all enjoy today. In 2016 he received the Park Stewardship Award.

John is survived by his loving children; daughter, Susan (Manuel) Alonso of DeLand, FL; son, John F. Jeandrevin of Salt Lake City, UT; beloved grandson, Alexander Alonso; and nephews; and a lifetime of collected friends.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 61years, parents, and sister, Virginia (Jeandrevin) Twitchell.
