Roger Glenn
Gedeon
Jul 26, 1940 — Feb 21, 2023
Roger Glenn Gedeon passed away peacefully in his home in Hinckley, OH on February 21, 2023, in the presence of his wife Evelyn and daughter Karen. He was 82 years old.
Roger was born on July 26, 1940, in Cleveland, Ohio to Glenn and Anna Gedeon. He moved to Hinckley in 1953 and graduated from Highland High School in 1959 and attended Baldwin-Wallace College. Growing up he developed a love of sports, playing football, baseball and track.
Over the years, Roger worked at Alpo until 1974, at Terex from 1974-1988, and finally retired from Avtron Manufacturing in July of 2002.
In 1970, Roger met the love of his life, Evelyn Spala. They were wed in a lovely ceremony on December 12, 1970, at Bethany United Church of Christ in Cleveland. Life was complete with the birth of their children David and Karen in 1971 and 1974. He could always be found at little league baseball fields playing catch with his kids and being involved in their little league teams. As years went on, he spent many hours watching his grandchildren play sports and take part in school activities. Roger was also a diehard Cleveland sports fan. His passion was watching Indians, Browns, Cavaliers and especially Ohio State Buckeye games.
When he retired, his family joked that he needed a hobby and movies filled that desire. He could tell you more about movies, both blockbusters and B-list movies, than just about anyone. Roger was loving, often soft-spoken, and could tell a good story when you got him going.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Anna and Glenn, and his bother Tim. His memory will live on with his wife of 52 years, Evelyn, his children, Karen Hamilton (Chuck) and David (Chrissy Arvin), and his grandchildren Jake, Brett, Erik, Holly Hamilton, Collin and Brooke Gedeon.
Family will welcome visitors from 4 to 8pm on Friday, February 24, 2023, at Waite & Son Funeral Home located at 3300 Center Road in Brunswick. A Celebration of Life will be held at the funeral home at 10:00 am on Saturday, February 25, 2023, with interment to follow at the North Orwell Cemetery in Ashtabula County.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the family ~or~ Hospice of the Western Reserve, 5075 Windfall Rd., Medina, OH 44256. Online condolences and memories may be left for the family on Roger's guestbook at www.WaiteFuneralHome.com .
