Ronald Bruce
Cerny
Sep 5, 1945 — Jul 11, 2024
Ronald Bruce Cerny, age 78, passed away on July 11, 2024, in Cleveland, Ohio. He was born on September 5, 1945, in Cleveland, Ohio to the late Frank J. and Adelaide (Brown) Cerny. Ron graduated from Garfield Heights High School Class of 1963; he went on to achieve an associate degree from Cuyahoga Community College. Ron was a Veteran of the US Army and served during the Vietnam War. His occupation was as an over-the-road truck driver.
Ron was a father, stepfather, brother, and devoted husband who truly embodied what it meant to care for and help others. He was always there when it really mattered and no one was there for others more than Ron, especially if anyone had a problem or something that they were struggling with. He loved gardening and animals and was known as the neighborhood dog whisperer.
Despite his many medical battles, Ron never gave up and no matter what, he looked out for his family and those closest to him whenever they needed him. He sadly fought his last battle on July 11, 2024, at Wade Park Hospital. We will grieve and miss Ron, but know that he is always with us, picking us up, lifting our spirits, and reminding us to never give up.
Ron is survived by his beloved wife of 42 years, Jean (Hudec) Cerny; his children, Suzanne (Brent) Creech and Lisa (Guy) Cox; his stepsons, Kevin Rytel and Scott (Jennifer) Rytel; five grandchildren; his brother, Gary F. (Ruth) Cerny; and a lifetime of collected friends.
Ron will be laid to rest with military honors at the Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery, 10175 Rawiga Rd, Seville, OH 44273 on July 22, 2024, at 11:15 a.m. We hope to see all the friends and family who can attend to help us remember Ron and the wonderful man he was.
In lieu of the flowers, donations may be made in Ron's name to Louis Stokes Cleveland VA Medical Center, Development & Civic Engagement Office, 10701 East Blvd., Cleveland, OH 44106.
