Sidney E. Rains (Sid), age 84, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, February 24, 2023. He was born on September 22, 1938 to Martin and Edna (nee Siler) Rains in Williamsburg, Kentucky. He graduated from Kenmore High School in the class of 1956 and went on to attend Akron University, while serving an apprenticeship with BF Goodrich Tire and Rubber. This launched Sid into a 60+ year career in the plastics industry with many of those years serving as the Vice President of Sales and Marketing at Van Dorn Plastics Machinery. He was an original member of the Akron Cam Jammers and a lifetime racing fan. Above all he cherished any moment spent with family and friends.

He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Cynthia (nee  Hull) Rains; children, Scott (Cindi) Rains, Michele (Steve) Snowball, Dana (Howard) Tieche; beloved grandchildren, Mitchell (Kristen) Rains, Samuel Rains, Claire (Austin) Schuetz, Kyle Snowball, Alex Tieche, Hayden Tieche, Paige Snowball, and Adam Snowball; sister, Sandra (Jim) Thornton; sisters-in-law, Ellen Rains and Claudia Hayes; brother-in-law, Dana Holliday; and a host of beloved nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and his special cousin, Barbara of Kentucky; along with a lifetime of collected friends.

Sid was preceded in death by his mother and father, Martin and Edna (nee Siler) Rains, sister, Reba Holliday, and brother Randy Rains.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, March 2, 2023, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Waite & Son Funeral Home, 765 N Court St, Medina, OH and again on Friday, March 3, 2023 from 10:00 to 11:00 prior to a funeral service at 11:00 a.m.  The family invites all who wish to join them for a luncheon at the funeral home immediately after the service. A committal service will follow the luncheon at Medina Center Cemetery.
