A life can be honored in many ways
We’re here to help you find the one that feels most meaningful.
At Waite Funeral Homes, we understand that trust matters deeply when you are caring for someone you love. That’s why we are proud to offer the only on-site cremation center in Medina County. Your loved one remains in our care every step of the way.
What is an on-site cremation center?
An on-site cremation center means your loved one is cared for at the same location by the same team from the moment they are entrusted to us through the cremation process.
This allows for greater continuity, transparency, and peace of mind for families.
Why on-site cremation matters
Many funeral homes rely on third-party crematories, which means your loved one is transported and cared for outside of their facility.
At Waite, our on-site cremation center allows us to:
- Maintain continuous, respectful care
- Provide transparency and peace of mind
- Ensure your loved one is never transferred to another location
It’s a level of care and accountability that matters to many families.
The Waite Promise
When a loved one is entrusted to us, we believe every detail matters.
- Your loved one never leaves our care
From the moment they are brought into our care, they remain with our team.
- Clear and respectful identification
We guide families through this in a way that feels calm and personal.
- A carefully documented chain of care
Every step is verified so you can feel confident in what’s happening behind the scenes.
- The option to be present
Families may be present or witness the beginning of the cremation process, if that feels right.
Cared for by the same people guiding you
The same team supporting your family is the team caring for your loved one—no transfers, no third parties.
A place to gather and honor a life
For families who choose cremation, our on-site chapel offers a meaningful space to come together and honor a life well lived.
Whether you prefer a quiet time of reflection or a more personalized celebration of life, we will help you create a gathering that feels true to your loved one.
Families may choose to hold:
- A small, private service
- A memorial gathering or celebration of life
- A time for sharing memories, music, or readings
Having this space on-site allows families to remain together in one place—simple, connected, and centered around what matters most.
A space designed with care and dignity
Our Waite Cremation Center is a modern, thoughtfully designed facility created to feel calm, private, and respectful.
The space includes:
- A chapel accommodating up to 50 guests
- Space for small gatherings or private goodbyes
- A peaceful environment for time together
Cremation services can be simple
Choosing cremation does not have to feel complicated. With clear guidance and a trusted team, families can focus on what matters most—honoring their loved one.
Here when you need us
Whether you are considering cremation, planning ahead, or navigating a recent loss, we are here to answer your questions and support families throughout Medina County and the surrounding communities.
What does on-site cremation mean?
On-site cremation means your loved one is cared for at the same location by the same team from the moment they are entrusted to us through the cremation process. At Waite Funeral Homes, your loved one never leaves our care.
Can I be present for the cremation?
Yes. Families are welcome to be present or witness the beginning of the cremation process at the Waite Cremation Center, if that feels right for them. There is no expectation, only the option to choose what feels most meaningful.
Is my loved one ever transferred to another facility?
No. Because we have the only on-site cremation center in Medina County, your loved one remains in our care at all times. We do not use third-party crematories or outside facilities.
How do you ensure the correct identification?
We follow a carefully documented process at every step. Identification is confirmed and verified throughout, and we guide families through this process in a way that feels clear, respectful, and never rushed.
Who performs the cremation?
The same trained professionals who are caring for your family are the ones caring for your loved one. Our team handles the process directly and there are no outside providers involved.
Can we have a service before or after cremation?
Yes. Families may choose to have a service before cremation, after cremation, or both. We also offer space at our Waite Cremation Center in Brunswick, Ohio for small gatherings, private goodbyes, or celebrations of life.
How long does the cremation process take?
The timing can vary depending on the circumstances and any services planned. We will walk you through the timeline and keep you informed every step of the way.
Is cremation a respectful option?
Yes. Cremation, when handled with care and intention, is a respectful and meaningful way to honor a life. Our team approaches every step with dignity, attention, and compassion.
Do you offer alkaline hydrolysis (water cremation)?
Alkaline hydrolysis—sometimes called water cremation—is an alternative to traditional cremation that uses water and a gentle process to return the body to its natural elements.
While this option is not currently legal or available in Ohio, we work with a trusted colleague we know personally and have confidence in, located out of state, who specializes in this process.
If this is something you are considering, our team will:
- Coordinate every step on your behalf
- Ensure clear communication throughout the process
- Maintain the same level of care, respect, and attention you would expect from our team
We are happy to talk through this option with you and help you decide if it feels right for your family.
