The Waite Cremation Center is located within our Brunswick funeral home and is home to the only on-site crematory in Medina County, allowing your loved one to remain in the care of the Waite team throughout the cremation process.


At the Waite Cremation Center, families can:

Some funeral homes rely on outside crematories, which means a loved one may be transferred to another facility for cremation. Because our crematory is located within our Brunswick location, your loved one remains with the Waite team throughout the process.

  • What does on-site cremation mean?

    On-site cremation means your loved one is cared for at the same location by the same team from the moment they are entrusted to us through the cremation process. At Waite Funeral Homes, your loved one never leaves our care.

  • Can I be present for the cremation?

    Yes. Families may choose to be present at the beginning of the cremation process if that feels meaningful to them. There is no expectation to do so—it is simply an option.

  • Is my loved one ever transferred to another facility?

    For traditional flame cremation at the Waite Cremation Center, no. Your loved one remains in our care at our Brunswick facility throughout the cremation process.

  • How do you ensure the correct identification?

    We follow a carefully documented identification and chain-of-care process throughout. Identification is confirmed at multiple points, and our team is always available to explain the process and answer your questions.

  • Who performs the cremation?

    Cremations at our Brunswick facility are performed by trained members of the Waite team rather than an outside cremation provider.

  • Can we have a visitation or service if we choose cremation?

    Absolutely. Choosing cremation does not limit your options for gathering or remembering someone you love. A visitation, funeral, memorial service, or celebration of life may take place before cremation, after cremation, or both. Services may be held at our Medina or Brunswick locations or in another meaningful setting.

  • How long does the cremation process take?

    Timing depends on required authorizations, the circumstances of the death, and any services your family chooses. Your funeral director will explain what to expect and keep you informed throughout the process.

  • Do you offer alkaline hydrolysis (water cremation)?

    Alkaline hydrolysis, sometimes called water cremation, is an alternative form of disposition that uses water and an alkaline solution rather than flame. It is not currently available through licensed crematories in Ohio. For families interested in this option, we can coordinate with a trusted out-of-state provider and help guide you through the process.

  • Do I need to purchase a casket for cremation?

    No. A traditional casket is not required for direct cremation. Alternative cremation containers are available, and we can explain the options when you make arrangements.
